# PEOPLE AND ROLES

> Invite people to your organization and control what each person can do with roles

Roles decide what each person can do, so you can share work without sharing accounts. Every person has an organization role, which covers the organization as a whole, and a role in each project they can open.

[FAiE](https://docs.oumi.ai/guides/intro/faie.md) (Frontier AI Engineer Agent) can send invitations for you. Ask it to "Invite [jane@example.com](mailto:jane@example.com) as a member," and approve the invitation when FAiE asks.

## ROLES

| Organization role | What it allows |
| - | - |
| **Owner** | Everything, including the plan, payment methods, and deleting the organization. Each organization has one Owner. |
| **Admin** | Managing people, settings, and every project. Admins can't change the plan or payment methods, transfer ownership, or delete the organization. |
| **Member** | Working in the projects they belong to. |

| Project role | What it allows |
| - | - |
| **Admin** | Everything in the project, including its settings, members, and deletion |
| **Editor** | Creating, changing, and running work, such as datasets, evaluations, training, and deployments |
| **Viewer** | Viewing the project's resources and results, and trying models |

Project roles stack. An Admin can do everything an Editor can, and an Editor can do everything a Viewer can. The organization's Owner and Admins have full access to every project, whatever their project role.

## INVITE PEOPLE

Open **Settings**, select **People**, and click `Invite Member`. Enter the person's email, and choose **Member** or **Admin**.

* The person must accept with the same email address the invitation was sent to.
* When they accept, they join every existing project as a Viewer. Give them a higher project role where they need one.
* The **Pending Invitations** tab lists invitations that haven't been accepted. An invitation expires if no one accepts it. Invite the same email again to send a fresh invitation, or delete an invitation to withdraw it.

## CHANGE OR REMOVE A MEMBER

On the **People** page, the Owner and Admins can change a member's role between **Member** and **Admin**, or remove a member from the organization. A removed member loses access to every project in the organization right away.

The Owner's role can't be changed or removed directly. To hand the organization to someone else, the Owner makes another member the Owner. Ownership transfers, and the previous Owner becomes an Admin.

## GIVE SOMEONE ACCESS TO A PROJECT

Open the project's **Project Settings**, and click `Invite Member` under **Project Members**, or click `Invite` on the project's **Overview** page. Choose an organization member and a role of **Viewer**, **Editor**, or **Admin**. Only people who already belong to the organization can join a project.

A project always keeps at least one Admin, so you can't remove or demote its last Admin.
