# REGISTER A HARNESS

> Connect your agent to a project from the Harnesses page

Connect a harness you've exposed at an HTTPS endpoint to Oumi. It then appears in the project's **Harnesses** list and in the evaluation Builder.

***

## BEFORE YOU START

You need:

* An agent endpoint that implements the [harness protocol](/guides/harnesses/protocol) and is reachable over the public internet.
* Editor access to the project.
* The endpoint's authentication credential, if it requires one.

Your endpoint URL must use HTTPS on port 443 and resolve to a public address. It cannot contain embedded credentials, a query string, or a fragment. Paths are supported, such as `https://agents.example.com/eval`.

## VIEW YOUR HARNESSES

Open your project and select **Harnesses** in the left navigation. This page lists the registered endpoints, their authentication methods, and when they were created.

## REGISTER THE HARNESS

Click **Register Harness** to open the registration form.

1. Enter a **Display Name** to identify the harness, such as `support-agent-prod`.
2. Enter the **Endpoint URL** where Oumi can reach your agent's harness routes.
3. Choose **Authentication**: **None**, **Bearer token**, or **API key header**. Enter the credential if required.
4. Click **Register Harness**.

The registered harness is available to select when you run an evaluation in this project. The endpoint URL cannot be changed after registration; register a new harness to use a different URL.

### AUTHENTICATION OPTIONS

Choose the auth method your endpoint expects:

| Option | What to enter |
| - | - |
| **Bearer token** | The token used to authenticate requests. |
| **API key header** | The API key and the name of the header your endpoint expects, such as `X-API-Key`. |
| **None** | No credential. Use this only if the endpoint does not require authentication. |

***

## UPDATE YOUR CREDENTIALS

1. Go to **Harnesses** and open the entry you want to update.
2. In **Connection**, click **Edit**.
3. Enter the new credential and click **Save**.

Running evaluations use the new credential on their next request. Coordinate the update with your team so the endpoint accepts both credentials until requests already in progress have finished.

To use a different endpoint URL, register a new entry.

***

## DELETE A HARNESS

Open the entry from **Harnesses**, choose **Delete**, and confirm.

If an evaluation using it is still pending or running, wait for the evaluation to finish or cancel it before deleting the entry. Completed evaluation results remain available after deletion.

## NEXT STEPS
